The beloved American classic about a young girl’s coming-of-age at the turn of the century, Betty Smith’s A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is a poignant and moving tale filled with compassion and cruelty, laughter and heartache, crowded with life and people and incident. The story of young, sensitive, and idealistic Francie Nolan and her bittersweet formative years in the slums of Williamsburg has enchanted and inspired millions of readers for more than sixty years. By turns overwhelming, sublime, heartbreaking, and uplifting, the daily experiences of the unforgettable Nolans are raw with honesty and tenderly threaded with family connectedness — in a work of literary art that brilliantly captures a unique time and place as well as incredibly rich moments of universal experience.

5 Stars A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
This book provided an authentic look at life in turn of the century New York city, among the working poor immigrant class. The descriptions of school, home, family life and relationships among the neighborhood were wonderful, rich and colorful. I highly recommend this book to anyone 12 years and older.
5 Stars Great Read…..One of my top 10 favorite books of all time
This book, written in 1943, is so heartwarming. It looks at family relationships in a very unique way. A must read.
5 Stars Well Defined Characters
Betty Smith did an excellent job portraying the details of each character in connection with the times and their surroundings. Her writing is clear and poignant. Even though the story is from an era gone by, it is easy to become engrossed with the drama of the characters and their life stories.
5 Stars Outstanding Audiobook Reader
There is not much more to add here about this amazing coming-of-age novel, except to say that the reader of the audio version, Kate Burton, made the book come alive by being spot-on with several different accents found in the melting pot of early twentieth-century Brooklyn.
5 Stars A Classic!
Well, I really loved this book! I definitely can see how it has earned the right to be a considered a classic. And I am disappointed that this was never a required reading book in my high school or university classes.
And though the war was WWI, and the city was NYC, it just reminded me of my Nonnie & Paba. I really enjoyed it - and I especially loved the narrator’s relationship with books. This was just a really great book all in all!

3 Stars Disapointed : (
Maybe because I am fairly new to ordering from Amazon I was under the impression that I was ordering a hard copy but recieved a paperback. So for all you newbies make certain you are ordering what you want. It also took over one month to get to me! My local bookstore was going to be able to order it and get it to me within a week but I thought well let me order it and have it delivered right to my home in the same time. Not so… I had placed another order just 2 days later for another book and recieved it in 3 days! So overall I was not thrilled with my ordering off of Amazon.
1 Star not reccomended
ok if u want to go 100% vegetarian, but hard for most to do.
they have since gotten divorced, and he has gone back to eating meat!
4 Stars Valuable Information
The information provided in “Fit for Life” was both valuable and thought-provoking. Harvey Diamond’s views of appropriate eating rang true far more than the conventional methods I’ve been taught over the years.
The first week of eating by this method gave me more energy than I’ve had for a long time with the added bonus of losing four pounds! The best part of the suggested regime is that it’s just common sense when you think about it; only most of us dont’.
If I were titling the book, I think I would call it “the Smart Person’s diet” because, though I haven’t be following if for long, it’s the most honest diet I’ve ever come acrossed.
5 Stars IT WORKS, IT WORKS, IT WORKS !!!
If you are looking to lose weight & get healthy, you have just found the book that will guide you to your success. I first followed this book 17 years ago. I lost 40 lbs in 4 months & never felt better. I had the energy of someone years younger.
The Diamond’s may not have a perfect system, but, it’s leaps & bounds beyond whatever is next in place.
Then, after many years of being slim & healthy, I got lazy, fell off the plan & gained my 40 lbs. back. Where did I go for help ? Right back to my old “Fit for Life” book that was sitting on the shelf.
I am now 10 days into the plan & starting to really see & feel the benefits of “Fit For LIfe”, AGAIN !
I thank Harvey & Marilyn Diamond a second time ! Jim Langston, Oregon
5 Stars If you Suffer from Heartburn - Fit 4 Life is 4 You
When this is followed within the parameters of the program, it works like a charm - stick to it - no heartburn - don’t stick to it - heartburn - simple as that. No gimmicks really - food is digested cleaner, quicker, doesn’t go bad in your stomach - I was absolutely dumbfounded it worked so completely.

5 Stars MY BOY LOVES READING IT
My 1st grader hates to put it down, he would rather read Magic Tree House books, than play video games. He even reads them to his class and explains the story for show and tell. In his kindergarten class the teacher would also let him read the Magic Tree House books out loud, not to give her a break, but to promote reading out loud. Great books!
5 Stars magic, danger, history
The book Twisters on Tuesday features magic, danger and history. The magic is the tree house. I bet you’re saying huh? Read the book to find out about this magical adventure.
The main characters of the story are Annie, Jake,Ted and Morgen. Annie is Jake’s sister. She likes danger and Jake likes to study.
Ted is a featured charactar in this book. He starts out as a human and changes, into a dog and the story’s plot is how Annie and Jake help him. I recommend this book to people who like magic and history in their books.

4 Stars Son loves it!
My son has recently become a fan of the Magic Tree House series. He loved this book as well!
5 Stars Awesome!
I have had my share reading books with my two younger children for their AR goals in school, and I must say this series is just awesome. They are short enough to read one per night and test on the next day! Very interesting as well, even for an adult! Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
5 Stars Books
My children love these books I didn’t know if they would like them because they don’t have alot of pictures. They just can’t get enough
5 Stars took over a month to receive it
waited for a month to receive the book.
4 Stars Earthquake in the Early Morning
This book is fabulous.
One of the reasons I like it is because it talked about fires, earthquake and natural disaster. Another reason is because it was near our city! The last reason I liked it is because they lost their city but still had hope. I learned some exellent facts. I learned the fire burned 28,000 buildings! They had half a millon people there. The earthquake was called “The Great Shake”. It was one of the biggest earthquakes ever! I would recommend this book for three reasons. The characters are fun. Jack likes the realistic and Annie likes the magic. The second reason is the excitement and learning wonderful facts.
Earthquake in the Early Morning is a excellent book.
There Is a Cure for Diabetes The Tree of Life 21 Day Program

There Is a Cure for Diabetes The Tree of Life 21 Day Program

Diabetes has become a seemingly unstoppable national epidemic, affecting more than twenty million Americans. Conventional wisdom calls it incurable, but renowned Dr. Gabriel Cousens counters that claim with this breakthrough book. There Is a Cure for Diabetes lays out a three-week plan for reversing the negative genetic expression of diabetes to a physiology of health and well-being. Dr. Cousens’s method, widely tested at his famous Tree of Life centers, is to reset the DNA through green juice fasting and a 100% organic, nutrient-dense, vegan, low-glycemic, low-insulin-scoring, and high-mineral diet of living foods in the first twenty-one days. Both practical and inspirational, the book explains how to abandon the widespread “culture of death”–symbolized by addictive junk food–that fosters diabetes in favor of a more natural, nurturing approach. The program renders insulin and related medicines unnecessary within four days as the blood sugar drops to normal levels; and the diabetic shifts into a non-diabetic physiology within two weeks. The third week focuses on live-food preparation, featuring 100 delicious raw recipes. Dr. Cousens emphasizes regular consultations, monitoring blood chemistries, and emotional support, and includes a one-year support program to help maintain a diabetes-free life.

2 Stars Good info but
The title says There is a Cure for Diabetes… The 21 day program… OK you would expect the 21 day program to be in the book. NOPE, I feel he is like the Keven Trudeau of the raw food movment.
Come to my center pay me more money and I may tell you!
Lame.
5 Stars A Pharmacist’s perspective
I am a Pharmacist at a large medical clinic in northcentral Wisconsin. I make it a point to try and review new breakthroughs in medical treatment. Dr.Cousens book is full of great practical information for everyone who wants to live healthy. However, if you have depression, are pregnant, have infants, are overweight, have high blood pressure or cholesterol, or especially if you have diabetes and any symptoms that go with that disease, you need this book! It will open your eyes to the fact that your disease can be cured.
3 Stars If you have the will power
This book is informative , I have been diabetic for a year and I started drinking bitter melon juice and Im also trying bitter melon tea.I have noticed it does help lower my sugar.I recommended this book to friends.
5 Stars Excellent book !!!
This book is a beam of hope in a world that believes that diabetes has no cure.It is very well documented and researched and you get to better understand the terrible complications of diabetes. If you or a loved one has diabetes,it is definetely worth reading. The new paradigm that this author is bringing about is so inspiring: the shift in diet goes along with a shift of being. As the author says, it is about moving from a culture of death to a culture of life. I don’t have diabetes but I found this book so inspiring to me. It brought hope and life within me. I can’t wait to read his other books. I think his Tree of Life Center in Arizona is an amazing place for healing.
5 Stars Fantastic information
Great book of information that makes sense for a change. The medical profession makes more money if people do not know these priceless secrets. I am now on chapter five, my fasting blood sugar has dropped over one hundred points and I am not even into the preparation of foods.
